Setting up MediaMTX with OBS Studio creates a local streaming server on your Windows PC that automatically converts your live OBS feed into an .m3u8 link for TiviMate on your set-top box.
Step 1: Download and Run MediaMTX on Windows
- Download the latest Windows release (mediamtx_vX.X.X_windows_amd64.zip) from the MediaMTX GitHub Releases page.
- Extract the ZIP file to a folder on your PC (e.g., C:\MediaMTX).
- Double-click mediamtx.exe to launch it.
- A Command Prompt window will open and stay running. Keep this window open while streaming—this is your local media server.
- Press Win + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
- Type ipconfig and press Enter.
- Look for IPv4 Address under your active Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter (e.g., 192.168.1.150). Write this down.
Step 3: Configure OBS Studio to Stream to MediaMTX
Open OBS Studio.
Go to Settings \rightarrow Stream.
Set Service to Custom…
Set Server to:
rtmp://localhost/live
Set Stream Key to any channel name you prefer, such as mychannel.
Click Apply and OK.
Click Start Streaming in the main OBS window. Check the bottom right corner of OBS to ensure the green indicator shows an active stream.
Open TiviMate on your Android TV / Firestick / set-top box.
Go to Settings \rightarrow Playlists \rightarrow Add Playlist.
Select M3U playlist.
Select URL and enter your MediaMTX HLS stream link, replacing <YOUR-PC-IP> with the IPv4 address from Step 2:
http://:8888/live/mychannel/index.m3u8
(Example: [http://192.168.1.150:8888/live/mychannel/index.m3u8](http://192.168.1.150:8888/live/mychannel/index.m3u8))
Click Next, give your playlist a name (e.g., “OBS Studio Channel”), and click Done.
Select your newly created channel from the TiviMate guide to start watching your live OBS feed.
